Join us in our second year, partnered with our friends at the Lake Huron Coastal Centre in Goderich, Ontario to bring Coast Watchers back to Northeast Michigan. Coast Watchers are part of a dedicated group that monitors sections of the Lake Huron shoreline on a weekly basis to gather data and help Huron Pines, our partners and local leaders make decisions in managing these important places. 

New this year, we will be adding an opportunity to conduct frequent monitoring at potential piping plover nesting sites during their migration from the first week of May to the last week of June 2023. The in-person training will be followed by an intensive virtual training hosted by the Great Lakes Piping Plover Conservation Team in May. There is no prior experience or supplies needed and we are flexible on the time commitment. We are ultimately hoping to get more eyes on the ground along any part of the Lake Huron Coastline to contribute to data collection

This training will be held at the Starlite Beach Pavilion in Alpena from 3-5pm on April 20th, 2023.
