Invasive Plant Workshop
July 13, 2022: 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Marguerite Gahagan Nature Preserve
Wednesday, June 13, 2022
4:00-6:00pm
This workshop will provide you with the tools and information you need to confidently manage invasive plant species on your property. The workshop will be focused on invasive plant species commonly found in local forested areas, with a special focus on invasive shrubs. Huron Pines will partner with MSU Extension and the local district forester to further provide resources for natural resource management. The goal of this workshop is for participants to learn how to identify invasive species and remove them from their properties.
This will be a two-part workshop. Part one will include a classroom portion where attendees will learn how to properly identify invasive species and techniques for removal. Part two will take place outdoors for a hands-on demonstration and lesson. Participants will have the opportunity to practice the removal techniques using tools provided.
Closed toed shoes, long pants, and work gloves are recommended to fully participate in the invasive species removal training activities. Water will be provided, but in an effort to minimize waste please bring a refillable water bottle.
This event is supported in part by the Michigan Invasive Species Grant program and Consumers Energy Foundation.
This is part of the Protect Wild Places event series established to empower Michigan communities to support the land and water to restore 5,000 acres of wildlife habitat and recreational land, and 150 miles of waterways and Great Lakes shoreline.
