The Sunrise Side Community Garden in Rogers City is hosting a rain barrel event June 24 to share the importance of managing stormwater to protect water quality. Participants will have the opportunity to take a rain barrel home to capture and use stormwater on their own properties.

The Sunrise Side Community Garden is being initiated in 2023 and will be open to the public for community interaction and education. The space will include a pollinator garden, rain garden, a pergola gathering space and musical garden instruments.

This event is supported by the Lake Huron Forever initiative through funding support from Consumers Energy Foundation. Lake Huron Forever is a multinational initiative, which encourages collaborative approaches to advancing watershed resilience that build upon the abundant care and enthusiasm of people in the Lake Huron Basin.
