Spring Salamander Survey **EVENT FULL**
April 29: 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
This event is full. Please stay tuned for another opportunity in Spring 2024.
Join Huron Pines for our first ever Spring Salamander Survey at Emily Min Hunt Preserve. This family-friendly event will include a short walk (.15mi) to one of the preserve’s wetlands where participants will assist Huron Pines staff in collecting salamanders and taking measurements. No prior experience is necessary. Participants should be prepared for wet conditions and to be outdoors for the duration of the event. There are no bathrooms on site.
Because of the sensitive nature of amphibians, this event is limited to 20 attendees. Email julia@huronpines.org with any questions.
Rain or shine. If temperatures on the day of the event are below 40 degrees, the survey will be canceled.
This event is part of our Protect Wild Places program, supported by the Consumers Energy Foundation, which is working to empower Michigan communities to support the land and water to restore 5,000 acres of wildlife habitat and recreational land, and 150 miles of waterways and Great Lakes shoreline.
We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals to engage fully. It is a priority for Huron Pines to ensure that our communications and programming are available and accessible to everyone. Please contact maddie@huronpines.org if you have any questions about accessibility or believe barriers remain.
We recognize that accessibility is not always possible in every area of our work. Our efforts are ongoing. Through a commitment to continued learning and understanding, we will strengthen our awareness of the barriers and inequities that exist at the individual and community levels, in order to advance more equitable opportunities to experience the outdoors in our region.
