Protected Places

Huron Pines is a leading voice for habitat restoration and protection in Michigan. We use education and advocacy to increase native plant proliferation and reduce the spread of invasive species. We lead the coordination of Northeast Michigan’s Cooperative Weed Management Area (CWMA) partnership, which brings together regional partners to increase early detection and rapid response to invasive plants. We provide education, resources and services to landowners seeking to address environmental concerns on their property through greenbelt planting, invasive species removal or native plant-based landscaping.

Beyond habitat restoration, we acquire and manage land ensuring it is protected forever. A tenet of our land protection effort is that beyond high ecological value it must provide direct benefit to the community for recreation, education, or wildlife.
