Bumblebee Inventory Field Day

  • US Forest Service Mio Ranger Station 107 Mc Kinley Road Mio, MI, 48647 United States (map)

Join Huron Pines and Michigan Natural Features Inventory on Thursday, June 20th from 11 am-3 pm at the US Forest Service - Mio Ranger Station.

Come meet other bumble bee enthusiasts to kickstart your involvement with the Michigan Bumble Bee Atlas program. Learn monitoring protocols, practice photographing bumble bees, and vamp up your bumble bee identification skills.

All registrants should have watched the Michigan Bumble Bee Atlas training series and attended a 2024 webinar meeting prior to the field event. To access those resources, click here.

In an effort to minimize waste, please bring a refillable water bottle. For our time outside, bring long layers to protect yourself from ticks and poison ivy. Be prepared for the weather with a hat, sunscreen, and anything else you may need. We will do light walking along a mostly flat trail while looking for bees. Snacks and refreshments will be provided but please bring a packed lunch.

We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals to engage fully. It is a priority for Huron Pines to ensure that our communications and programming are available and accessible to everyone. Please contact maddie@huronpines.org if you have any questions about accessibility or believe barriers remain.

We recognize that accessibility is not always possible in every area of our work. Our efforts are ongoing. Through a commitment to continued learning and understanding, we will strengthen our awareness of the barriers and inequities that exist at the individual and community levels, in order to advance more equitable opportunities to experience the outdoors in our region.
