This course guides participants through the process of addressing invasive species on public land through policy or leadership action. Participants learn how to present logical arguments to local decision-makers regarding the presence of invasive species while offering possible solutions to eliminate the issue. Upon completion of the course, participants will have created a strategic plan to engage a local decision-maker on an issue of importance.
This is a hybrid course with 4-weeks of online instruction beginning on October 2nd and culminating with a one-day, in-person workshop on November 4th from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
In-person workshops are scheduled to occur in both Grayling and Alpena*
*locations may be consolidated depending on number of registered participants at each location.
The first four weeks are self-paced online, with eight learning sessions that each take about a half hour to complete. As you complete each session, you will add to your engagement plan, applying the knowledge that was presented. The extra week provides time to catch-up or to devote extra time to your engagement plan. The course wraps up with an in-person workshop at the end of the fifth week, where you will take a deeper look at some of the concepts presented online and have a chance to practice delivering your engagement plan.
