Conservation Value

Situated on Churchill Point, the protected forests of Hubbard Lake Nature Preserve offer refuge for native plants and wildlife. Its sandy hills help filter rain and snowmelt, contributing to healthy groundwater and promoting the water health of Hubbard Lake.

Huron Pines hosts partner organizations, volunteers and student groups for a variety of stewardship and education-related activities at the preserve. The grounds also serve as a training facility for our seasonal Restoration Technicians where they develop the skills and teamwork they rely on during their field season.

History and Future

Hubbard Lake Nature Preserve was donated to Huron Pines in the summer of 2018 by John & Wendy Frye. Our Land Protection Program has grown considerably since then, and Huron Pines continues to prioritize lands with high conservation value for permanent protection.
