General Rules & Information for HAP Participants
Established in 1977, Michigan’s Hunting Access Program offers public hunting opportunities on private-held lands across portions of the Lower and Eastern Upper peninsulas. Additionally, Huron Pines’ participation in HAP helps manage the population of whitetail deer and their impact on sensitive habitats that are currently under restoration at Emily Min Hunt Preserve.
Permanent hunting structures of any kind are prohibited, including those which require screws or nails in trees. Temporary structures and trail cameras need to be approved by Huron Pines by contacting Julia Butch, Land Protection Coordinator, (989) 448-2293 x10, julia@huronpines.org.
Target practice is not permitted on HAP-enrolled lands.
Motor vehicles are not permitted on the preserve.
Emily Min Hunt Preserve remains open to all non-hunting users throughout the deer hunting season, running until Jan 1, 2024. Visitors who are not hunting are welcome to check the registration box at the trailhead to determine if any hunters are present on the property during their visit. For safety, it is recommended that all visitors wear blaze orange or other bright-colored clothing, and all pets must be leashed.
Tips regarding suspected poaching or other wildlife violations can be submitted anonymously by calling Michigan’s Report All Poaching (RAP) Hotline, 1-800-292-7800 or online here.
